No matter where you live – and I especially mean this about those of us like me, that live in a big city (actually I live in a suburb of a biggish city; Phoenix, Arizona) or even rural, chances are you are close to some spectacular, beautiful areas. Why? Earth is a beautiful place that’s why! Just look around, or drive a bit out of town and look around a bit. Nice, huh?
Anyhow, last March, almost a year ago in fact we had a family get-together just outside of Phoenix at a place called Cave Creek.

Cave Creek Looking South to Phoenix
It’s pretty up there. Here’s another shot of the beginning of our hike:
There were lots of those yellow wild flowers
And another:
It’s a verdant desert!
I had my 35mm SLR with a macro lens. Here’s some close ups:
Spiny!
Prickly!
Spiny prickly!
Lichens
More lichens!
More plants with barbs and spines:
They’re pretty back-lit like that, but don’t touch!
Hope you have some time this weekend to get out and see the wonders local to you.
Have a great weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!
We certainly have plenty of cactus out here in Arizona – I have several clumps in my yard – organ pipe, saguaro, and barrel. Hack around my blog and you’ll find many more photos!
