Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?

Sometimes called Scotland’s peasant-poet he wrote all sorts of poetry and songs and largely in Scottish dialect, was always ready for a good-time, sired fourteen children and died at thirty-seven on the day his last child was born. Quite a character. Appropriate we sing Auld Lang Syne while toasting and kissing! I’m sure he would approve.
